History
1In 1987,Founded in Osaka.
The unique concert focusing on providing “energetic entertainments”from Osaka, is filled with entertainments,
and has drawn attention for its unique performances that amalgamate taiko drumming with the principles of theater.
Dadada-dan has taken its concerts beyond Japan to the world, has performed in such Asian countries as South Korea and China,
as well as in Europe ,Australia and the Middle East, and has been called “A rare group that is able to fuse tradition and modernism.”
1987year FOUNDED
Dadadadan Tenko is a Japanese drums (wadaiko) group formed by the performing artist Mondori Isaya.
1992year DEBUT CONCERT
Their debut concert , "Tenko Nariyamazu (Never-ending Drums)" was held in 1992,five years after their organization.
They were a group of simple, honest,polite young people.
Their demeanor was in stark contrast to the overflowing energy and power they radiated on stage.
1995year ESTABLISHED REQUTATION AS A HIGHTLY UNIQUE WADAIKO COMPANY
They embarked on a series of activities that surprised those around them.
They began sessions with other artists from other genres.
They began to incorporate dance, flower arrangement, calligraphy, synthesizers and other new ideas.
They experimented with new expressions of wadaiko and established their position as a large unique Japanese drums group.
1997year ON THE GROUP’S TENTH ANNIVERSARY, THEY CHANGED THEIR NAME TO “OSAKA DADADADAN TENKO”
Ten years after their creation, they adopted the new name, Osaka Dadadadan Tenko.
This name signified that a variety of percussion instruments other than the wadaiko would be used to create Japanese rhythms. Their appearance, movement, and performance were also diversified to emphasize the element of entertainment.
Their aim was to create a stage entertainment and the new name was a reflection of their renewed determination.
1999year BEGAN GIVING FULL-SCALE CONCERTS ABROAD
With the group's second performance in New Zealand and a successful European tour, primarily in Holland, it began full-scale liveperformances in foreign countries.
2000year COLLABORATIVE PERFORMANCES WITH ROCK MUSICIANS BROADCASTED AROUND THE WORLD
The group's performances in Japan and abroad continued to improve,
with an appearance in a TV commercial and an energetic collaboration with rock musicians held at Tokyo Dome.
The latter event, called "Pride GP 2000," was broadcasted all over the world.
2001year HUGE AUDIENCES CAPTIVATED AT SPORTS EVENTS
Attracting a large audience of over 50,000 people at international
sports events like the 3rd East Asian Games and the 46th World Table
Tennis Championships, the group's powerful performance was broadcast on NHK.
They were also greeted with thunderous applause at the 2001 World Food Expo (Korea).
2002year ACCLAIMED BY INTERNATIONAL MEDIA AS “RARE TROUPE”
Attracting some 30,000 viewers on the group's second European tour,
the group were acclaimed by the media in each country for its "rare" fusion of the traditional and modern.
In addition, the group eagerly expanded its field of activity with TV appearances and other events, including the Athens Festival in Greece,
held in the autumn.
The concert, at the Herod Atticus, an ancient outdoor theatre standing on the hill below the Acropolis, proved enormously popular with the capacity crowd.
2003year JAPAN PERFORMANCES THRIVE AS GROUP IS PROFILED ON NHK NEWS
With their first performance in Tokyo's Ginza,
a concert tour in Fukui and their regular tour of Kyushu, the group grows stronger than ever, and withthe positive reception it received as a guest at numerous wadaiko festivals, the group was described as being at the forefront of increasingly diverse Japanese drumming groups in a report on NHK News.
2004year RAVE REVIEWS FOR TOUR OF EUROPE AND MIDDLE EAST
For its third European concert tour, which began in February and ran for two months, the group traveled to 24 cities.
As the group's reputation preceding it, the performances sold out one after another.
In the summer, the group also traveled to Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt on a Middle Eastern tour.
Performing at the Baalbeck International Festival, along with such luminaries as the world renowned tenor Placido Domingo, the group attracted a two-day turnout of 6,000 and completely won over the audience.
2005year GROUP ACTIVITIES INCREASED SUBSTANTIALLY WITH DVD RELEASW AND OTHER EVENTS
Following the huge success of new spring performances held, as in years past, at Osaka's Kosei Nenkin Hall and the Shin-Kobe Oriental Hotel,
the group released a DVD of footage from its European concert tour andperformed at a large-scale event in Tokyo to further increase both the breadth and depth of its activities.
2006year DINNER SHOWS AND EUROPEAN TOUR
Along with the new spring shows held as usual in Kobe and Osaka,
the group attracted countless fans and followers during their fourth European concert tour,which ran for two months.
2007year 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FORMATION.
THE GROUP RENAMED TO “DADADADAN TENKO”.
20th anniversary of the formation.
Wishing for the extend on their global activity, the group is renamed to "Dadadadan Tenko".
their successful performances in Thailand and Bahrain gave a big step forward for them to expand their world wide activity.
2008year THE COLLABORATION IS EXPANDED WITH THE ARTIST OF VARIOUS GERES.
Along with the new spring shows held as usual in Theater BRAVA!,
the group attracted countless fans and followers during their 5th European concert tour, which ran for two months.The collaboration is expanded with the artist of various genres.
2009year THE BIG SUCCESS SUPPRESSES PERFORMANCE IN TOKYO AND POLAND.
Performance held twice in Tokyo and Poland ended in a big success.
2010year 6TH EUROPEAN CONCERT TOUR AND THE SHANGHAI EXPO.
They exceeded 100 performances in their 6th European concert tour, and it became a big topic in the video performance at the Shanghai Expo.
